Friday Feast’s with Arán

Arán Artisan Bakery & Bistro

Friday Feast’s with Arán Artisan Bakery & Bistro

We eat a huge amount of breads and cakes in Ireland, so we know what makes a good loaf! Arán seemed to have mastered the art of bread and treat us to it with every bite of their mouth watering sandwiches. They were recently named in the Irish Times Top 100 Best Places to Have Lunch in Ireland, and Ireland’s Best Brunch at the Georgina Campbell Irish Breakfast Awards – a fine achievement by any standards! Covid was a huge test to all eateries all around the world and many had to rapidly adopt their ways of working to survive the numerous lockdown’s, one way of doing that was by standing out online and this is where Arán also excel. Their website is extremely easy to get around and order from and the order confirmation is spot on for timings and managing expectations. Collection is from the hatch and served with a smile, while the smells of fresh baking waft out the windows!

Keen to find out a little more on how they do what they do, we got in touch and asked a few Friday Feast’s Questions!

Tell us something we don’t know about Arán?

Arán is nothing what we imagined it would be. It completely took on a life of its own and we couldn’t stop it! We are so happy with the direction is has gone and are loving what we are doing. We grabbed it and rolled with it!
Bart is our head baker and Nicole is our head chef, but they’ve actually reversed roles. Bart’s specialty is as a butcher and Nicole is a pastry chef but since in Arán has transformed so have their roles. Nicole is the Head Chef in the restaurant, while Bart has become Head Baker.

What’s cooking this weekend?

We have a few new items on the menu this week including a Breakfast Muffin which has our own Arán Homemade Muffin, Irish Applewood Smoked Cheddar, Truffle Scrambled Eggs, Streaky Bacon, Sautéed Mushrooms, Onions and Smoked Sausage and Ballymaloe Relish with Hash Brown and Crisps. Also new on the menu is Bart’s Toasted Special with butter toasted Arán White Pan, Bart’s Special Cured Pork, Irish Applewood Smoked Cheddar, Onion Marmalade, Baby Gem, Buffalo Tomatoes, and Piccalilli Mayo with Crispy Onions and Crisps.
We gradually change our menu one or two dishes at a time. Hopefully you’ll find something new so make sure to come in and try our new ideas. Right now we are working on introducing a corn beef and mortadella sandwich in the near future.
